安川 幸聖理 | Mimari Yasukawa
截金（きりかね）とは、金箔を切り、張り合わせて仏像を装飾する技 術です。平安時代に中国から日本に到来し、その後日本独特の発展を遂げました。伝統的な技術と安川幸聖理の豊かな感性で、仏像装飾の枠にとらわれない独特の「截金」の世界を表現しています。
作品は下書きなしで直接キャンバス（古木）にデザインしていきます。その理由としてそれぞれの古木から感じるインスピレーションを大切にし、そのイメージをもとに作品を創るからです。 役目を果たし、暗闇に静かに腰を据えていた小道具や旧家の廃材、そして未知の時間を越え流れついた流木、使い捨て社会の現代、私はそれらに言い用の無い魅力を感じ、截金を施します。
私の作品からほんの小さな幸せを感じて頂ければ幸いです。
Kirikane, literally “cut gold” is a decorative technique used in Buddhist artwork, in particular to decorate images of Buddhist deities. The technique came to Japan from China in the 6th century A.D.
Four sheets of leaves made of gold or platinum are pressed together with an iron to form the mediums for kirikane. These sheets are traditionally placed on a piece of deer skin and cut into fine strips or other shapes using a knife made from bamboo. Using the tips of small brushes, the resulting pieces are then glued onto the surfaces of wooden Buddhist statues or paintings.
My creation, Kirikane, is different from the way most asians do. I use kirikane combining traditional motifs with contemporary media. I am the only contemporary artist who use this technique, making my work highly original and unique.
I collect the old wood used for the Japanese traditional houses. By transforming it into a piece of art, i bring the wood to life again. All of my work are designed directly on the canvas (wood) without any sketching. The reason is that i value the inspiration i get from each wood and just let that image take me to create my art.
